Poultry Day Draws A Crowd

On Saturday February 16th, IGI hosted an all-day series of workshops on All Things Poultry that brought out a standing room only crowd. More than 150 people turned out to learn about raising healthy egg layers and meat birds, marketing and processing poultry, raising heritage breeds, and sourcing and cooking locally-grown chicken.

Presenters included local growers and off-island experts, and participants ranged from children raising chicks in their kitchen to experienced large-scale chicken producers. It was a wonderful event that brought together the growing number of islanders engaged in agriculture on the Vineyard. We are excited to continue working with our Poultry Program to expand the number of poultry producers and the amount of locally-produced meat and eggs on the island.
