Slowfood Martha's Vineyard June Potluck

On Thursday, June 19 Slowfood MV will hold their monthly potluck supper from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. This meeting will focus on planning for our summer’s highlight event; a potluck community gathering featuring keynote speaker Michael Pollan.

MV Slowfood is delighted to host Pollan, author of several books which examine how the human and natural worlds intersect, through food, agriculture and gardens. Pollan’s 2006 book, “ The Omnivore’s Dilemma” examines how our eating choices effect our own health, and the health of our global environment. His most recent publication, “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto,” explores the notion that most of us are no longer eating “real food,” around a dinner table. His premise is that we return to the table, enjoy one another’s company and “Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants.”

Please bring a dish to share, including a local ingredient if possible, and your own place setting.

The potluck will be held at Jan Buhrman’s. She is located in Chilmark, off of Middle Road.
Take Middle Rd for 1. 4 miles and look for a mailbox on the left which says “Hewing Field.” Take this left and follow the road to the end. The road ends in her driveway.

Please RSVP at 508-360-4491.
